The Green Chemist Consultancy

Dr Barbara Olioso is a doctor of chemistry, a cosmetic formulator, a speaker and a writer. Her passion and scientific interest is in green chemistry and sustainability applied to cosmetic products to drive sustainable innovation.

Based in the UK, she has been specialising in natural and organic cosmetics development since 1999, developing skincare and haircare products. Back in 2005 she was behind the launch of the first certified organic eau de toilette with Primavera Aromatherapy, now Espa International. Barbara moderates the Sustainability Corner at In Cosmetics Global and regularly contributes to Which magazine as well as trade magazines. She has recently launched her first book, the Green Chemist’s Handbook for Cosmetic Preservation and she has been shortlisted in the Who is Who in Natural Beauty for two consecutive years, ie 2020 and 2021.

Her services go from strategic concept development, formulation support to innovative formulation development and much more, working with beauty brands, big and small, and ingredients suppliers to drive innovation.

She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Society of Cosmetic Scientists.
