Student Poster Presentations

Call for Entries
We would like to invite students and scientists, new to the field of cosmetic science, to our
Annual Conference in Liverpool to present some of their contemporary research. We will offer
free conference registration to 10-15 selected entrants. In addition, one person will be selected
for an award. A great kick-start to a career in the cosmetics industry.

How to enter
Submit an abstract describing your work to the Conference Scientific Programme (SP) Committee. Deadline for submissions is Friday 1st May 2026.

Abstracts must:
• Be written in English.
• Be a maximum of 300 words (title, authors, and affiliations excluded).
• Contain no tables, graphs, or references.
• Follow the International Journal of Cosmetic Science instructions for authors.

The abstract should describe an original piece of scientific work and must not have been
previously published or submitted to any other conference. Original research undertaken for
commercial purposes is welcome, as long as it has sufficient scientific merit. Abstracts and
posters should use chemical names as far as possible and avoid direct promotion of any
products or services.

The competition is open to all full-time students based at UK Universities (undergraduates/post-graduates/post-doctoral scientists). Applicants don’t need to have studied cosmetic science degrees but abstracts must be related to cosmetic science.

All abstracts will be evaluated by a jury of experts of the Scientific Programme Committee.
Results will be communicated to authors as soon as possible, and no later than Friday 1st May,
to support travel planning. Approximately 10-15 pieces of work will be chosen to be presented
at the Conference.

Poster Guidelines
Successful applicants will be invited to present their work in poster format during the
Conference. Poster presenters are expected to stand by their posters during the poster
session and to answer questions from attendees.

• Posters should be roughly A0 size (84.1 x 118.9 cm or 33.1 x 46.8 inches) and should
be presented in portrait orientation.
• We recommend printing your poster on one large sheet of paper with or without
lamination.
• Please do not mount your poster on foamboard as it will be too heavy to hang on the
displays.
• We will provide pins and Velcro™ to mount the posters.
• Complete trade names are allowed as well as the INCI nomenclature for ingredients.

However, trade names should not be used in your poster title. If you wish to have
more promotional content, we encourage you to consider participating in our
commercial showcase.

The Competition
The conference attendees will vote on their favourite posters during the poster session. The
poster with the highest votes will win a trophy and a cash prize worth hundreds of pounds.
