Biography

Dr Gabriela Daniels has over 20 years of experience as an educator and researcher in cosmetics. She is the Director of Science Programmes at the London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, home to one of the world’s longest-established degree programmes dedicated to cosmetics.

Her research focuses on integrating scientific studies of hair‑fibre and hair‑assembly properties with related work on human perception and behaviour. She has published and presented extensively in these areas. Gabriela is particularly committed to advancing research in underrepresented domains, including textured hair and the greying of hair. She also chairs the Scientific Programme Committee of the Society of Cosmetic Scientists in the UK. Gabriela has been awarded the 2025 Martha Schwarzkopf Award for Lifetime Contribution to hair science teaching and research, in recognition of her outstanding impact and innovation in the field.
