SCS Annual Conference, Call for Abstracts
Conference Theme
The theme of the 2025 Conference is ‘Breakthrough Science & Claims Testing’.
Call for Abstract Submission
We invite established researchers and PhD students in the cosmetic and affiliated fields to present their contemporary research at our Annual Conference. All abstracts should present original research that aligns broadly with the conference theme.
The SCS will publish the conference abstracts in 2025 in the International Journal of Cosmetic Science (our Society’s journal). If submitted to the journal, your abstract will need approval for publication from the journal’s editorial board (not just the SCS).
How to Enter
Submit a structured abstract describing your work to the Conference Scientific Programme (SP) Committee. The deadline for submissions is Friday 2 May 2025. Abstracts must be submitted in English (maximum 500 words; no tables or graphs) and should include the following sections:
-
Objective: State in a few sentences the purpose and main objective of the research.
-
Methods: Describe in two or three sentences the methods and techniques used.
-
Results: Summarize the main observations and highlight the most significant outcomes.
-
Conclusion: State in one or two sentences how your work contributes to new knowledge in the field.
Abstracts should describe original scientific work that has not been previously published and must not include animal testing. Research conducted for commercial purposes is welcome, provided it has sufficient scientific merit. Abstracts, presentations, and posters should use chemical names where possible and avoid direct promotion of products or services.
All abstracts will be evaluated by a panel of experts from the Scientific Programme Committee. Results will be communicated to authors by 30 May to facilitate travel arrangements. A maximum of 10 pieces of work will be chosen to be presented at the Conference.
This year’s conference highlights five main focus areas:
1 – Breakthrough Science & Claims
2 – Skin Care
3 – Hair Care Products & Devices
4 – Sensory Benefits & Testing
5 – Breakthrough Claims Testing Methods
